So where did the passion for LinkedIn and online networking come from? Back in 2017 Claire was in a HR DOO (department of one) role in a very challenging environment. Up until that point in her career, her LinkedIn was static (aka just an online resume.) She felt the need for more connection and knowledge sharing with other HR pros as well as professional development opportunities. She turned to LinkedIn and Twitter and started creating posts using #HR hashtags. Through being active online she was contacted by SHRM and sent to the annual national conference 2 years in a row as a SHRM Blogger. In this awesome role, SHRM pays the bloggers' conference registration fee in exchange for interviews with the speakers and vendors, and other content for the SHRM blog. She was also able to attend some amazing networking events while there. More opportunities then came as a result of being at the conference, such as speaking, writing and podcasting opportunities. If she had never “shown up” online, she would have never unlocked these opportunities for herself, especially so early on in her career! Claire has learned a ton through trial and error using LinkedIn actively over the past four years, and has experienced a ton of professional growth, so she loves to share tips and tricks (think the LinkedIn algorithm too) and help others do the same!
